| The Digital Stream DSP7700T Converter, receives digital broadcast signals and converts them to analog, for analog tuner TV sets. This means you will be able continue to use your old TV after the U. S. government mandate in 2009 or capture digital signals on your new TV with this digital to analog converter. This model is one of two within the Digtial Steam DSP line. The DSP 7700t is the upgraded model, offering many of the standard features that you would expect to see on most DTV converters while also including Analog Pass Through. As of May 2008, 94% of all analog broadcast television stations also broadcast in digital. So to receive the 6% of the stations which have not converted over to digital you will need a receiver with Analog Pass Through.

| Digital Stream was the first company to offer a National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) approved digital-to-analog converter box. According to the company website, “Digital STREAM Technology Inc. (DST) has been exploring HDTV technologies and industry-educational collaboration for the Digital Television (DTV) era since it’s establishment in 1995. In preparation for the digital entertainment world, we have prepared digital Set-Top Boxes, DTV PC turner cards and USB Boxes to provide our customers with high definition quality signal receiving capabilities using our cutting edge technology.”
The Analog Pass Through feature allows receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. This provides reception of TV signals from low power transmitting stations which are not required to convert to all digital broadcasting. The DSP7700T is supplied with a remote control, two AAA batteries, a 3′ Coaxial Cable, and a User’s Manual. |

HD content produced a picture quality that was a small step below that of the top boxes but still impressive, better than most analog broadcasts with some flaws that may go unnoticed (depending on the content). But with SD content there was visible stretching and blurring of the image. It delivers good audio from its RF and left/right audio outputs.
It has an electronic program guide that presents the program title, run time, and brief summary of shows for several hours of programming on the currently tuned channel. Allows you to directly tune to a new digital channel without having to “scan-for-all-channels.” Additionally, if no signal is found on a particular channel the on-screen signal meter allows you to monitor its strength as you optimize the antenna position. So, if you know a channel exists, you can tune to it and adjust your antenna until the signal is strong enough for the box to tune it in. Its universal remote allows you to turn on and off, change the video input, and adjust the volume of your analog TV. Has adjustable font, size, color, and transparency of the closed caption text and its background in order to make it more or less visible. It is Energy Star compliant. |

| Digital Stream’s DSP7500T DTV Converter Box is a good converter box that can be had for fairly cheap price after using the coupon. Even without using the coupon, the price is still cheaper some other brands. The converter box is fairly easy to set up. The connections are straight forward and the menus are easy read with fairly big fonts and are easy to configure as well. The size of the converter box is quite compact compare to some. The controller of the converter box have built in universal controller for the users to configure for the use with one TV of choice. The functions of the universal part of the controller includes power on/off, volume control, and input selection for the TV. | |

| It has pretty good signal and channels are clear. I can’t seem to get one of my fav channels thought. I’ll miss it in 2009. The box ws a pain to get with the coupons. Took me about an hour to get it and the worker knew I was pissed. Makes me not want to redeem the 2nd coupon because I bought one just to see the wquality and get a 2nd one if this was bad. | |
