Where to begin when talking about the 42″ 42PG20 plasma panel from LG? With the slim and stylish, 3.4″- deep, glossy piano-black cabinet and bezel, a perfect complement to the motif of any room? Or, how about with its 720p display, delivering both a high definition 1365 x 768 pixel resolution and progressive-scan capability, for a detailed, life-like image without the judder of interlaced-scanned images? Or, instead, with its Dual XD Engine™? This LG-exclusive technology uses advanced video processing to optimize black levels and panel brightness, to enhance color, and to reduce image noise and artifacts. Additionally, XD Engine technology provides de-interlacing of analog signals, making these compatible with the performance level of modern flat panel technologies. From style on the outside to advanced technologies on the inside, your home hi def experience begins with the LG 42PG20. According to Consumer Reports, “The LG 42PG20, a 720p set, had excellent HD picture quality–it was very good with DVDs and SD shows–and it’s especially low-priced for a major brand, earning it a CR Best Buy designation.” |

After the price dropped on this T.V. I decided to buy. Wary of plasmas I still loved the high contrast ratio that this one delivered. I had the choice between this and a similar samsung and definately could see that this Lg model gave the better picture. 720p? they could have fooled me because the crispness of picture quality is terrific, one thing I was wary of with this being a 42″ model. The Darks are dark, the whites are white, and the colors are vibrant. I keep mine set on cinema style settings and love it. The sound is better than most flat panels and the speakers are hidden. I like the high gloss finish, makes it look sleek. Ghosting is minimal on this model and if you do experience some ghosting they supply different ISM methods to basically prevent or actually one called white wash which basically resets your picture. I play a lot of Xbox 360 so I was worried about the ghosting but it is not really a problem. I recently paired this with LG’s LHT854 home theatre system (about $220) and am enjoying a high quality home theatre setup for a decent price. So everyone considering picking up this T.V. I say Enjoy! |

Well, after much debate, I went with the 42PG20 over the PX80 (& Samsung PN42A450) - Between the three, the LG offered the most features for the money and PQ that was as good or better than the other two (to my eyes, anyway). |

| I viewed this model against a 1080p and you could barely tell the difference (I have 20-15 vision)!! The sound is just fine for all families! | |
