The Toshiba 15LV505 is a fantastic HDTV that includes many great features that will make your entertainment viewing better than ever before.  With its 22 inch 22LV505 model, a 19 inch 19LV505 model and 15.6 inch 15LV505 model, you have different options for finding the TV best for you.  This LCD/DVD/HDTV combo comes in an ultra-slim design with a side slot for loading DVDs and stereo speakers (1.5 watts x2) mounted to the bottom of the device.  It is also wall mountable (bracket not included) so if needed, you can remove the stand that is provided.  However, it would be nice if the stand was adjustable or able to swivel.

There are many different uses for this HDTV.  Some will use this as a monitor as well.  There is a great graphics card for both of these products that will make the gaming experience great.  The 15 inch model yeilds a 1366 x 768 resolution, the 19 inch set puts out 1440 x 900 relosution, while the 22 inch model has a 1680 x 1050 resolution. All models have a wide screen 16:9 ratio.

Also included in with this unit is the ability to make this the center of your multimedia center.  You are able to use the DVD drive to view all kinds of media types including WMA, MP3.  Playable disc types include DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and VCD.  Plus, it can play DivX videos, too.

There are also a number of picture viewing options including Natural, Theater Wide, Theater Wide 2, Theater Wide 3, and Full.  You can also adjust the temperature of the picture and change the mode of the television to make whatever programming you are watching look better than ever.  Although a minor drawback is the few second lag while switching stations.

The connections on the back have plenty of options to make this TV perfect for you.  It includes composite video, s-video, component video, HDMI (not available on 15 inch models), PC input, RF input for antenna/cable signals, and coaxial digital audio output for Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

1)Sharp Check source/input –> It says DVD,Input1,Input2,,,,,,DVD–> this is confusing…(Toshiba says PC, HDMI etc which is clear)
2) Sharp DVD drive doesn’t read everything for eg I inserted a 3 year old VCD this could not read that (But Toshiba reads that)
3)In Sharp if you insert a CD with movie, pics and music – it cannot recognize movie files (toshiba has all movie, pics , music)
4) In Sharp Menu and display font are rather ordinary (Toshiba menu fonts look “Better”)
5) Sharp, If you plan to use it as a monitor , LCD will not tilt backwards. LCD display has ONLY a vertical position (Toshiba LCD can be tilted backwards)

Negatives of Toshiba

6) Sharp Sound is slightly more audible or loud , but I find that it lacks that crystal clarity ( Toshiba has comparatively low sound and audibility, but speakers and music are better and clearer even-if it has a low volume)
7) In Sharp ,in the picture adjustment menu you can increase or decrease color , sharpness (Toshiba color and Sharpness is locked you cannot change it)
In Sharp, Sound adjustments are better , you have more option and effects. (Toshiba most of the options are locked)

Overall

For the same price Toshiba gives me more options. According to me picture quality is better in Toshiba eventhough sound is less audible. Sharp has a “slightly” better audible speakers. I recommend Toshiba — Good Luck.

Summary: We purchased the TV/DVD player for use in our kitchen. The 19″ size is a perfect fit. The picture is sharp and clear w/dvd’s and hdtv channels. I highly recommend this hdtv/dvd player.
